Shopify developers who start with how your store runs

Databending is a web design and development studio in Windsor-Essex, and Shopify is our go-to platform for retailers. We build Shopify stores for shops in Windsor, Kingsville, Leamington and across Ontario: independent retailers, food businesses, boutiques and brands that sell both in store and online.

Plenty of developers can install a theme. The hard part of ecommerce is everything around it: products entered twice, stock that doesn't match between the till and the website, loyalty points tracked on paper, and a checkout that breaks every time a plugin updates. We start there.

Case study: Greenheart Kitchen, Kingsville

Greenheart Kitchen has been part of Kingsville since 2011. Their WordPress site had grown past itself, and the in-store POS and online store ran on separate systems that never agreed. They also wanted to launch weekly ready-made meal kits for customers across Essex County.

  • Migrated to Shopify with product data, customer accounts and order history.
  • One POS for in-store and online sales, replacing two unsynced systems.
  • Custom meal kit subscriptions built with Shopify Hydrogen and custom app support.
  • Automated loyalty and gift cards that used to be tracked by hand.
  • Load time from 6.3 seconds to 1.3 seconds, with structured data for local search.

We drove out to Kingsville to sit down with the staff before designing anything, and came back on launch day to train the team in person.

When Shopify is the right call

Shopify suits most businesses whose website exists to sell products. It handles payments, security, hosting and POS so you don't have to. It's less suited to content-heavy sites with a small shop attached, or to highly unusual checkout logic. If you're unsure, read ourShopify vs WooCommerce comparisonor ask on the call. We'll tell you if another platform fits better.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Most Shopify stores we build cost $5,000 to $15,000, depending on the number of products, custom features and integrations. Stores with custom subscription logic, headless builds or complex POS integration can go beyond that. You get a fixed, itemized quote after a 15-minute call. Shopify's own monthly plan and app fees are separate.
A typical build takes 6 to 10 weeks. Migrations with large catalogues or order history, and stores that need custom apps, take longer. Having product photos and descriptions ready is the biggest thing that speeds a project up.
Not if the migration is planned. Shopify uses its own URL structure (/products/, /collections/), so we map every old URL to its new home with a 301 redirect, carry over titles and descriptions, and monitor Search Console after launch.
If selling products is the main job of the site, Shopify is usually the better choice: payments, inventory, POS and security are handled for you. If your site is mostly content with a small shop on the side, WordPress with WooCommerce can make sense. We build both and will recommend one honestly.
Yes. For Greenheart Kitchen in Kingsville we replaced two unsynced systems with one Shopify setup, so in-store and online sales, loyalty points and gift cards all run through the same place.
Yes. We're based in Windsor-Essex and work with retailers across Ontario and Canada. Local clients can meet in person and get on-site staff training at launch.
